Notes for Anders Svensson
Anders Silander was according to the clerical survey around 1810 a "kronoskogvaktare" which means that he was employed by the Crown as a forest warden. That was a somewhat higher profession than just a plain farmer, so he might have felt that he wanted a more professional surname. The surname is built on the name of the place where they lived, called Lilla Silänne. According to my place name database there is still a place called Sidländet in Lugnås, which I think is the same name today.—Elisabeth Thorsell
